AnyVan, Shiply and A1 Transporter can all get a car, a large item or the contents of a home moved. They work in quite different ways, though, and the right one depends on whether you want an instant price or a choice of quotes.
We’re the A1 Transporter team, so we’re not neutral. To keep this fair, everything below about AnyVan and Shiply comes from their own websites (checked 2 October 2026), and we describe how each service works rather than rating them. Terms change, so check each provider’s current terms before you book.
| AnyVan | Shiply | A1 Transporter | |
|---|---|---|---|

AnyVan describes itself as a “managed marketplace – not a broker”. You enter what you’re moving, where and when, and get a price straight away; AnyVan then matches you with a team from its network that is already working nearby. Its car transport page says it can move non-running vehicles, has single, multi-car and enclosed transporters, and offers live tracking on the day.
Good fit if: you want to know the price now, pick a date and let someone else choose the team.
Bear in mind: on standard moves you don’t choose between drivers, and the standard cover is described as fire and theft cover — AnyVan’s terms explain what it includes.
Shiply has been running since 2008 and covers everything from furniture and cars to boats and pets. You fill in one form and transport providers quote; Shiply says quotes typically start arriving within 30 minutes, though they aren’t guaranteed. You compare prices and feedback before accepting one. Its terms describe the deposit as a tiered percentage of the accepted quote that differs by category.
Good fit if: you want several prices to compare, or you’re moving something abroad.
Bear in mind: Shiply’s terms say your contract for the job is with the transport provider, so check the provider’s insurance and terms yourself.
Good fit if: you’re moving a car (running or not), arranging breakdown recovery, a house move or an item delivery within Great Britain, and want to choose a checked driver with their cover in front of you.
Bear in mind: A1 Transporter is a new platform. We’re busiest in Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk and don’t have drivers quoting everywhere yet, so on some routes you may get few quotes, or none. We don’t cover Northern Ireland, and support is by email only.
Whichever you choose, check the Goods in Transit cover is at least the value of what’s being moved, get what’s included in writing, and make sure there are photos at both ends.
We haven’t tested them, and we don’t make price claims about other services. Prices depend on the route, the item, its condition and your dates, so compare real prices for your own job.
Yes. Nothing stops you getting prices from each and booking the one that suits you. Close your other listings once you’ve booked.
AnyVan’s car transport page says it moves non-running vehicles. On Shiply and A1 Transporter, describe the condition when you post so the right drivers quote. For auction cars, the yard’s collection rules and storage charges matter as much as the platform — see moving a car you bought at auction.
