Non-Runner Vehicle Transport — England, Scotland & Wales
Car won't start, won't steer or has flat tyres? Post the job for free, describe the problem, and compare quotes from checked drivers who can load it.
What counts as a non-runner
A non-runner is any vehicle that can't drive itself onto a transporter: a flat battery, a seized engine, a broken gearbox, locked steering, accident damage, flat tyres or no keys.
Describe it properly
Drivers price non-runners by how hard they are to load. Say what's wrong when you post: does it roll, does the steering turn, are the tyres inflated, are there keys? Photos help. The clearer the description, the more accurate the quotes — and the fewer surprises on the day.
How it works
- Post the job — pickup and drop-off postcodes, the vehicle and whether it drives. It's free and you don't need an account to post.
- Checked, independent drivers send their own price. Each quote shows the driver's goods-in-transit cover in pounds.
- Choose a driver and pay a deposit online to book. You pay the rest to the driver directly, on the payment terms shown with their quote.
What affects the price
Loading a non-runner takes a winch and more time, so it usually costs more than a car that drives on. Distance, the vehicle's size and how soon you need it matter too. Compare the quotes you get.
Before you book you see the driver's price and our booking fee. The booking fee is the deposit you pay online; the driver's price is paid to the driver directly, at the time and by the method shown with their quote. Nothing else is added.
Why book through A1 Transporter
- Checked drivers — before approval we check each driver's V5 (vehicle log book), motor insurance and goods-in-transit certificate
- Cover you can see — each quote shows how much goods-in-transit cover that driver has
- Condition photos — the driver photographs the vehicle at collection and again at delivery
- Ask before you book — chat with drivers on the website or in the app; contact details are shared once you've paid the deposit
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a non-runner?
Any vehicle that can't drive onto the transporter under its own power — flat battery, seized engine, locked steering, flat tyres, accident damage or no keys.
What if the car doesn't drive?
Say so when you post the job. Drivers see the vehicle's condition before they quote, so the ones who can load a non-runner — with a winch — can price it properly.
Does a non-runner cost more?
Usually a little, because it needs a winch and takes longer to load. Drivers set their own prices, so post the job and compare.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Every driver must hold goods-in-transit insurance. Before approval we check each driver's V5 (vehicle log book), motor insurance and goods-in-transit certificate. Each quote shows how much cover that driver has, so choose one whose cover is at least your vehicle's value.
