- Movers send their prices — Only movers we've cleared for household goods are alerted to your move and can quote on it. Each sends their own price, or takes the price you set, and we email you when quotes arrive.
- Compare, choose, book — Pick the quote that suits you, or none at all. You pay nothing until you accept a quote.

- You compare and choose — Movers set their own prices. You see every quote and decide — there's no obligation to accept any.
- Ask before you book — Sign in to message a mover about their quote before you accept. Phone numbers and email addresses are hidden in the chat until your booking is confirmed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a house removal cost?
It depends on how much is moving, how far it's going, the floors and access at each end, and the date. On A1, movers send their own price for your move, so you compare real quotes rather than an estimate. Getting quotes is free and there's no obligation to accept one.
Do I need an account to get quotes?
No. Post your move with your email address and we'll send the quotes there. When you accept a quote you confirm your email with a one-time code, and that sets up your account — no password needed.
Are the movers insured?
Before we approve a driver, we check their V5 (vehicle log book), motor insurance and Goods in Transit certificate. For removals there's an extra step: a person at A1 reads the Goods in Transit policy and only clears movers whose cover includes household goods. The insurance is the mover's own, not A1's — a claim for loss or damage is made against the mover's insurance, and we'll give you the details we hold to help.
Who decides how many people come and whether packing is included?
You agree that with the mover before you accept their quote — sign in and message them about it. Your photos are what tell them the van size and how many people the job needs.
When do I pay?
Posting your move and getting quotes is free. You pay only when you accept a quote: a deposit by card online to confirm the booking, and the mover's price directly to the mover, at the time and by the method shown with their quote. Cancellation terms apply — see our Terms.
Which areas do you cover?
Anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales — you can post a move from any postcode there. Northern Ireland isn't covered yet.
