Shiply is an online marketplace where transport providers quote for your job. If you want an instant price, one company to deal with, or simply a second set of prices to compare, there are alternatives.
A note first: this guide is written by the A1 Transporter team, and A1 Transporter is one of the alternatives, so we’re not neutral. What we say about other services comes from their own websites, checked on 2 October 2026. Terms change, so check the current version before you book — and if anything here is out of date, email [email protected] and we’ll correct it.
According to Shiply’s own website:
AnyVan describes itself as a “managed marketplace – not a broker”. You get an instant price based on what you’re moving, where and when, and AnyVan matches you with a team from its network rather than asking you to compare quotes (for specialist and international moves, several partners can quote and you compare them).
For car transport, AnyVan’s website says it includes £50,000 fire and theft cover as standard (its terms have the detail), live tracking on the day, and free editing or cancellation up to 48 hours before. Support is by phone, email and WhatsApp, seven days a week.
Might suit you if: you want a fixed price now and are happy for the platform to choose who does the job.
uShip runs a UK site where you list what needs moving and transport providers compete for the job; it says its providers are feedback-rated.
Our own platform, so here are the plain facts:
The honest limitation: A1 Transporter is new. We don’t have drivers quoting everywhere yet — we’re busiest in Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk — so on some routes you may get few quotes, or none. Support is by email only.
Might suit you if: you’re moving within Great Britain and want to compare checked drivers’ prices with their insurance amount in front of you.
You get one company’s price and one point of contact; to compare, ask several firms. Get the price in writing, with what it includes and the company’s goods-in-transit limit.
Bought at auction? BCA’s help pages say delivery can be requested in MyBCA, but must be arranged before the invoice is paid. Manheim’s buying guide says that once you’ve paid in full, it can deliver to any mainland UK location. Our guide to moving a car you bought at auction compares the options.
| Option | How you get a price | Who chooses the driver |
|---|---|---|
| Shiply | Transport providers send quotes | You |
| AnyVan | Instant price from your details | AnyVan matches you with a team |
| uShip | Transport providers compete for your listing | You |
| A1 Transporter | Checked, independent drivers send their own prices | You |
| Transport or recovery company | The company quotes | The company |
You can post the same job on more than one platform to see the range of prices. Once you’ve booked, close the other listings so drivers aren’t quoting for a job that’s gone.
In one way, yes: drivers quote and you choose. A1 Transporter works only in England, Scotland and Wales, shows each driver’s Goods in Transit cover in pounds next to their quote, and is newer, so there are fewer drivers in some areas.
There’s no single answer — it depends on your route, dates and what you’re moving. Compare real prices for your own job.
On A1 Transporter, yes — describe the condition when you post, and drivers equipped for non-runners can quote. AnyVan’s car transport page says it can move non-running vehicles. See what a non-runner costs to move.
