Car Transport from Bristol to London
Post your Bristol to London job for free and compare prices from checked drivers, with each driver's goods-in-transit cover shown next to their quote. You choose.
How it works
- Post the job — pickup and drop-off postcodes, the vehicle and whether it drives. It's free and you don't need an account to post.
- Checked, independent drivers send their own price. Each quote shows the driver's goods-in-transit cover in pounds.
- Choose a driver and pay a deposit online to book. You pay the rest to the driver directly, on the payment terms shown with their quote.
Bristol to London: the route
The drive from Bristol to London is about 120 miles — roughly 2.5 hours at the wheel, plus loading and unloading at each end. You set the dates that suit you; drivers quote for them and often say in their note when they can collect.
The fastest road route is the M32 out of Bristol to the M4, then the M4 east for about 105 miles, finishing on the A4 into central London. The last few miles are on London streets, so the time at the wheel can be longer in traffic.
Collecting from an auction yard such as Copart or BCA? Put the lot number in the notes, and the release or gate-pass details under Access instructions (Special instructions in the app) — only the driver you accept sees those.
Before you book
- Bristol end — Bristol's Clean Air Zone, in the central area of the city, covers cars as well as vans and lorries: vehicles that don't meet its emission standards are charged daily, 24 hours a day, every day. Any charge on the driver's vehicle is part of their price
- London end — the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) covers all London boroughs, though not the M25, and runs 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas Day. Part of central London is also inside the Congestion Charge zone, which applies 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, except between Christmas Day and the New Year's Day bank holiday
- Road charges are part of the driver's price — they apply to the vehicle driven in the zone, and nothing is added after you accept a quote
- Loading space — in London, say in the notes whether there's off-street space or a loading bay near the address
- Postcodes first — you post with postcodes only, and add the exact addresses after you've chosen a driver and paid the deposit
A1 Transporter is a new platform and we don't have drivers quoting everywhere yet, so on some routes you may get few quotes, or none. Posting is free, so it costs nothing to see who quotes.
What affects the price
- Distance — about 120 miles door to door, plus how far the driver has to travel to the pickup
- Whether the car drives — a non-runner needs a winch and more time
- Size and weight — a van or a large 4x4 costs more than a small hatchback
- How soon — flexible dates usually bring more quotes to choose from
Before you book you see the driver's price and our booking fee. The booking fee is the deposit you pay online; the driver's price is paid to the driver directly, at the time and by the method shown with their quote. Nothing else is added.
Why book through A1 Transporter

- Ask before you book — chat with drivers on the website or in the app; contact details are shared once you've paid the deposit
Frequently asked questions
How long does Bristol to London car transport take?
The driving itself is about 2.5 hours for roughly 120 miles. When your car is collected depends on the dates you set and the driver you choose — compare what each driver says about timing before you book.
How much does it cost to transport a car from Bristol to London?
Drivers set their own prices, so post the job to see real quotes. Distance, whether the car drives, its size and how soon you need it all affect the price. Our booking fee is shown before you accept a quote.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Every driver must hold goods-in-transit insurance. Before approval we check each driver's V5 (vehicle log book), motor insurance and goods-in-transit certificate. Each quote shows how much cover that driver has, so choose one whose cover is at least your vehicle's value.
What if the car doesn't drive?
Say so when you post the job. Drivers see the vehicle's condition before they quote, so the ones who can load a non-runner — with a winch — can price it properly.
Do the Bristol Clean Air Zone or London's ULEZ add to my price?
Not as separate charges. They apply to the vehicle driven in each zone, so any charges the driver pays are part of their price. You see the driver's full price and our booking fee before you book, and nothing else is added.
